How I Remedied My Blood Presure

So there I was at the hospital feeling quite light headed and pretty much all over the place. I wasn't sure what was going on except that I knew I needed help. The medication I was on was giving me a pain and frankly it didn't help much. I just didn't know if I would end up in the hospital. So they took my vitals and the nurse on call asked me if I had high blood pressure? I replied "no". In fact for a few months my blood pressure was on the brink of becoming high blood pressure. With my strange sleeping habits that didn't help much either. With me, for my blood pressure to be normal I would have to sleep sound every night and that had not been happening. Also with my allergies and asthma I know these health issues didn't help much. I was very much over weight and I didn't eat right or I just didn't eat the right types of food most of the time and my job and home life were pretty much erratic. I know someone who has high blood pressure and as a matter of fact this person is a close relative of mine. I know I didn't, just couldn't, really didn't want anymore medications prescribed to me unless I really needed to take them. I wanted to be medication free and healthy.

So I Researched

So while I was in school I did a paper on high blood pressure and during my research I found out that I could be doing a lot of activities so my blood pressure wouldn't turn into high blood pressure. I found out that I could remedy my own blood pressure. I really shouldn't had worried because I only had one symptom, fatigue or confusion, but I worried anyway. I even got more worried when I read that if high blood pressure gets bad enough and it is left untreated it could lead to a heart attack or a stroke. Yes, untreated high blood pressure could lead to all sorts of illnesses that could prove to be quite fatal. So I thought to myself.. 'I have got to get my weight under control, eat less junk food, get more exercise, get more rest at night and drink more water. I just wanted to get my 120/80 blood pressure reading back. Since high blood pressure, along with diabetes, runs in my family, I really needed to get to work working namely on nutrition and exercise.

A Little About Nutrition and Diet

I already knew about nutrition - healthy foods minus junk foods + extra water. So I started eating leaner cuts of meats and lots of chicken and fish. I even went and bought canned sardines and tuna in pouches. I found that shopping for fish on a limited income really helped with the bills. I would buy sardines in mustard sauce, sardines in hot sauce and sardines in soy bean oil. I would make a meal of it and have them with brown rice and a side of vegetables. I found these meals easy to prepare and very economical. I would eat more fruits and vegetables and when money got tight I would go to a dollar store and buy frozen vegetables from there. I would also go to the grocery store and buy vegetables from the reduced vegetable bin and save a lot of money that way. For chicken I would wait for it to go on sale and then buy a lot of it. I would take it home and rewrap it into smaller portions for dinner size. I also started buying bagged dry beans which I found to be very economical also. To save on grain I would just buy brown rice. Salt never has been a big problem for me. I just use it in cooking meals and I don't add it to my dinner plate. For water out of the tap I would just filter it to get the chlorine taste out.

A Little About Exercise

I have found that a little exercise goes a long way. I normally walk everywhere I go. To stores for shopping for groceries and what we need around the house. I try to get out most days and walk for about  a half hour. If I'm in for a while I do some stretching and toning for about an hour, when I feel up to it. When I feel energetic I use to put on my belly dancing vhs tape. Well that was when the vhs player worked. Since I have been more active I find that I am much more calm and I can sleep at night.

But don't get me wrong cause I still like a little ice cream and crunchy potato chips and candy every so often but I just don't over do it, And I don't always exercise like I should but I did take some steps to help with my blood pressure and I have to say that the steps to help with my blood pressure and I have to say that the steps I did take helped a lot.

Thanks for reading, I will be writing more later.
