An Article for You Exercise Enthusiast

I read this really great article in this magazine the other night. It was about a woman's new diet. For years she had been struggling to take off weight, she said she joined lots of weight loss groups and tried all kinds of diets. Then one evening she had gotten a good look at herself in a full length mirror and felt like she not only let herself down but also let God down. She really needed to loose weight. She recalled a prayer and said it to herself. At that time she decided to order a slice of cheese pizza and a diet coke. She thought to herself that she should start small. She would also say this prayer while doing her daily tasks. At the supermarket she would repeat this prayer quietly and shop for healthy foods. I believe that this was somewhat of a stepping stone. She felt better but nothing happened when she stepped on the scales. Then one day she happened to notice that she had lost 3 pounds. That three pound weight loss gave her the motivation to loose more weight. When the weather got warmer she started walking and the weight came off. She met a friend at the grocery store and her friend mentioned she had just come from the doctors and she needed to take off a few pounds so she invited her friend to join her on her walks. She said she was in the best shape of her life and then all the sudden during one of her walks she felt as if there was an elephant sitting on her chest and she could barely breathe. You see she had a heart attack and needed surgery as soon as possible.

Even though the surgery had been a success she felt weak and thought to herself--"how could I have a heart attack when I was in the best shape of my life?" Well after about a month she had gotten a phone call from the ER doctor saying that he was surprised that she was able to stand up. She then read an article about the type of heart attack she had, it was called a "widow maker", and she said it came to her...all of the good choices she made, the praying, the choices of food and her walking...all made a difference, it saved her life.

What I learned from this article is that all of the small choices one makes has a lasting impact on ones overall life. Each time you make a choice you may say to yourself this may not matter to anyone...but in fact the choices you make will make a huge difference in your life as well as the lives of others.

Is Anyone Interested In the Healthcare Field?

I have worked in the health care field for quite some time now. It all started back in the 80's when I thought I wanted to be a nurse. I was young and held down 2 jobs, one full time and the other part time and plus I would take a class here and there. My main focus was keeping the bills paid and having a social life. The thought of being a nurse intrigued me to the point where I enrolled in an Anatomy and Physiology course. Everything seemed easy enough until I realized how much studying I would have to do in order to get a decent grade. Thinking about this I decided to drop the course and maybe pick it up in the future and turn my attention back to getting the bills paid. Well as it all turned out I got a decent job at a group home working with and for some really great people. The work was hard but very rewarding. From there I went on to become a CNA, PCA and now I work part time as a HHA. I have since gotten a few degrees and just maybe will be on my way. I am still running the race. See you at the finish line.

Sunday in the Park

Today was a good day. We went to a park and I watched my child play in the activity area and play on the swings. She asked me to push her and of course I did. People were using the grills, conversing, sitting in chairs, walking and walking their dogs, riding bikes, eating and just enjoying the day at the park. The temperature was eighty degrees and it was also very sunny. There was a light wind...it was worth the drive there. I noticed a man and two boys together- they came to the park on bikes and I have to assume that they were father and sons. It was nice seeing this. I noticed adults playing on the swings also and assisting their children at times. I really didn't say anything to anyone, I just stood by and watched all of the activities and thought about how good it was to get out of the house and spend some quality time with the ones you love.

A Great Saturday Afternoon

Today is a great day! I believe that I may have found my passion in life. I started my very own blog. I get to write about anything I may have on my mind. I have a ton of material that may be very beneficial. I have my own pulpit, my own stage. Can I say the world is waiting? I am going to be impartial about life and about people. I will let the Lord lead the way. WOW! To show no partiality and no respecter of persons. I believe that we can all learn from and take a little from that. In that statement I believe that everyone has a chance to become what was truly intended for them to become. I think that with a little help, patience, time, endurance and perseverance some can reach that goal. Well here's to a bright future!
